About Us

Bechtol Engineering and Testing is a consulting engineering firm specializing in Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Services, and Construction Materials Testing. Since it's inception in 1989, BET has provided professional engineering and testing services for a wide array of clients in both the private and governmental sectors throughout the State of Florida. During this time BET has earned a solid reputation for providing the highest level of cost-effective professional engineering services.

Key Personnel:
Thomas Bechtol, P.E.

President/Principal Engineer/Senior Administrator
Mr. Bechtol is responsible for the implementation of all projects, coordination of associated team members, and review of all reports. Mr. Bechtol is a Registered Professional Engineer who has 26 years of engineering and management experience in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Services and Construction Materials Testing.

 

Robert E. Reed III

Vice President/ Environmental Services Manager
Mr. Reed has 21 years of experience in the Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering fields, and is responsible for management and implementation of Environmental projects, including ASTM E 1527 Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Chapter 62-770 F.A.C. Site Assessment Reports, and C&D Landfill compliance monitoring; and administration of state, county, and municipal contracts and projects. Mr. Reed is certified as an OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Worker and stays current with the latest FDEP-approved techniques for soil and groundwater sampling. Mr. Reed also has years of experience in computer systems and network management on a variety of operating systems. His experience also includes institution and transition management of AutoCAD operations, development of Corporate CADD standards and implementation of CADD system modifications. In addition, he has had extensive experience in hardware maintenance and hardware/software troubleshooting.

 

Alejandro M. Sorondo, P.E.

Geotechnical Services Manager / Senior Project Engineer
Mr. Sorondo is responsible for the management and implementation of Geotechnical projects and oversight of Environmental projects. Mr. Sorondo is a Licensed Professional Engineer with over 12 years of experience in the areas of Geotechnical Explorations, Soil and Groundwater Sampling, Remediation System Design, Sampling and Maintenance, Contamination Assessments, Underground Storage Tank Closures, and Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments. Mr. Sorondo is OSHA Health and Safety Trained, and oversees the coordination of field and laboratory activities for Geotechnical and Environmental projects, including environmental laboratory sampling and testing in strict compliance with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Standard Operating Procedures.

 

Randal Stormant Vice President/Materials Testing Manager
Mr. Stormant is responsible for the management of all materials testing projects and the supervision of materials testing personnel. Mr. Stormant has over 15 years experience in all aspects of construction materials testing and inspection. His technical expertise is demonstrated by numerous certifications including FDOT Quality Control Management, FDOT Asphalt Plant Technician, FDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician, FDOT Limerock Bearing Ration Technician, FDOT Prestressed Concrete Inspector, Troxler Radiation Safety Officer and Nuclear Gauge Operator, American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician, NICET Level III Soils, NICET Level II Asphalt, and NICET Level II Concrete.
