About Bechtol Engineering and Testing, Inc.
Family-owned in DeLand since 1989.
Bechtol Engineering and Testing is a consulting engineering firm covering geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, and construction materials testing. We have operated from the same city since 1989, and we still work the way a family-owned firm does: the Engineer who takes your call is the one who scopes the project and signs the report.
What we built here
Our staff of 50 includes four Engineers (three licensed Professional Engineers and one Engineer Intern), three certified AutoCAD drafters, managers, field and laboratory technicians, and administrative staff.
We keep the work that decides your schedule and your results under our own direction: the engineering, the laboratory testing, and every boring. All five drill rig types, our own materials testing laboratory in DeLand, and a staff of 50 led by three licensed Professional Engineers mean a project goes from the first boring to a sealed report under one firm's direction.

Credentials and what they mean
Logos are easy to display and hard to interpret. Here is what ours actually represent.
-
Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
Our Engineers are licensed by the state. A PE seal is what building departments, lenders, insurers, and courts require before they will rely on an engineering opinion. -
FDOT.
We are approved for Florida Department of Transportation work, including quality control and assurance programs and Superpave asphalt mix designs. FDOT approval is not a membership. It is a qualification with ongoing requirements. -
CTQP.
Our technicians hold Construction Training Qualification Program certifications, which FDOT requires for acceptance testing on state projects. Uncertified testing on FDOT work has to be redone. -
A.B. Chance.
Our foundation crews are trained and certified by A.B. Chance for helical anchor systems, which is what allows BTR Foundation Services to install what our Engineers design. -
American Concrete Institute, Florida Engineering Society, CMEC, and GMEC.
Professional and technical associations we participate in.
